Snow During the Season is a Headache

The following are canceled due to the snow:

JV and Varsity Practice on Wednesday 4/11.
Varsity Dinner on Wednesday 4/11
JV and Varsity games at Stoughton on Thursday 4/12
JV game vs Waterloo on Friday 4/13

Here's the updated schedule for the week:

Wednesday - No activities
Thursday - JV and Varsity practice after school. Varsity will be in the gym.
Thursday - Varsity Dinner rescheduled from Wednesday
Friday - JV and Varsity practice

Practice 4/11/2007 & Bus Time for 4/12/2007 (Stoughton)

School at LHS has not been cancelled, so practice will occur at the normal time this afternoon. Tomorrow's bus time will be 3:15 pm.

May 17 Game Venue Changed

On May 17, both teams will play Cambridge/Deerfield. We were originally scheduled to play at Cambridge. The game location has been changed to Deerfield HS.

Wisconsin Heights Game Time Changed

Due to the bus shortage in Lodi, we have changed the game time for the varsity game at Wisconsin Heights (there is no JV game as Heights does not have enough players for two teams). The game will now begin at 5:30 (instead of 4:45).

Janesville Parker JV Game Back On (Tentatively)

It turns out the list of players who were going to Florida with the band and choir that we had did not accurately reflect who was actually going. As such, we are attempting to un-cancel the JV game with Parker. I expect that the original game times will be restored. Sorry for the confusion.

JV Game vs. Parker Cancelled; Varsity Game Time Changed

Due to the band/choir trip to Florida, both teams will be short players for the March 29 game against Janesville Parker. We attempted to reschedule the games, but were unable to find a date that would work for both schools. For this reason, the JV game has been canceled, and the varsity game time has been changed to 4:45 at Lodi Stadium.

Sugar River Game Times Changed

The game times for the JV and Varsity games against Sugar River on Tuesday, May 15 have been changed. The JV game will begin at 6:00 and the Varsity game will begin as soon as possible after the JV game.

Varsity Spring Break Practice Schedule

The LHS Varsity team will be practicing from 10am to noon during Spring Break. Plans for the JV practices have not yet been made. Players will be excused for family or school trips, but are expected to attend practice if they are not traveling.

V Foundation Carwash Info Posted

The V Foundation has posted info on the first LHS Car Wash for Cancer Research. It's pretty cool to see our school on a national website. Check out http://www.jimmyv.org/events/events.cfm?eid=311.

Initial Rosters Posted

Check out www.vincepsoccer.com for the initial rosters for the LHS Girls' Teams for 2007.

JV Game vs Wisconsin Heights Cancelled, Varsity Time Changed

There will be no JV game against Wisconsin Heights on April 17th - they did not have enough players to have a JV Team. The Varsity game will begin at 4:45.

LHS Practice Schedule

The weather does not seem to want to cooperate this year, so we have put together a schedule for indoor practices. Please see the notes below for further details.

On March 12 and 13, tryouts (practice) will be from 4:15 - 6:15 in the LHS Gym. If weather permits, we will be outside, but players should probably plan on being inside. An announcement will be made on Friday, February 9 if we will be outside on Monday the 12th.

All other practices will follow the following schedule until we move outside permanently:

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: Outdoor practice would be from 3:30 to 5:30. Indoor practice for the JV team would be from 4:15 to 5:45. Indoor practice for the varsity team would be from 5:30 to 7:00.

On Wednesdays: Outdoor practice would be from 3:30 to 5:30. Indoor practice for both JV and Varsity would be from 4:15 to 6:00.

• Plan on being indoors for tryouts on Monday, March 12. Though it is extremely unlikely, we will announce on Friday, March if we anticipate being outside on Monday the 12^th.

• Practice will be held indoors as long as the practice field is covered in snow or has significant standing water on it.

• Indoor practices will be in the LHS gym. Outdoor practices will be on the soccer field behind the middle school.

• For outdoor practices, players from both teams should meet in the locker room and jog to the field as one group, unless instructed specifically otherwise. The captains from the JV and varsity teams will organize the group together.

• Players will have at least one day’s notice before we move outside, but should always be prepared for an indoor practice.

• For indoor practices, players should bring flat-soled shoes (indoor soccer shoes, low-top basketball shoes, or running shoes seem to work best on the gym floor).

• For outdoor practices, players should bring appropriate soccer shoes and should dress in several layers, as the temperature fluctuates greatly.

Upcoming Open Gym Dates

The varsity captains have organized open gym dates for any students in Lodi interested in participating. They have done a great job of planning fun and useful sessions and hope that participation will continue to grow.

Remaining dates for the Open Gyms are:

Sunday, February 18 from 4-6 pm at the Middle School Gym
Saturday, February 24 from 2-4 pm at the Middle School Gym
Saturday, March 3 from 2-4 pm at the Elementary School Aux Gym
Sunday, March 11 from 4-6 pm at the Middle School Gym

These open gym dates are a great way to help get yourselves ready for the season or just a great chance to have some fun!

Mandatory Organizational Meeting Time!

The first organizational meeting for LHS Girls Soccer 2007 was a great success! At present, we have 35 players signed up, which is a terrific turn out! Things look good for the season.

Though the first meeting was awesome (at least from my perspective!), we need to have one more. On Monday, March 5 at 7:00pm in the High School, there will be a mandatory meeting for players and parents. We will cover vital information for the season, including schedules, district requirements, the co-curricular code, and other important items.

Lodi Girls Soccer Custom Balls Ordered

The Lodi Girls Soccer varsity team will be using new soccer balls this season. I ordered the balls this morning, and they should be here just in time for the beginning of our season in March. The balls have the school logo and say "Lodi Blue Devils Girls Soccer" on two sides of the ball. Connecting the logos will be a blue, white, and black panel on two sides.

The ball is made by American Challenge, and is the Champion model. In 2006, the varsity team at LHS used plain Champion balls as practice and game balls, so the team will be familiar with the feel and play of the balls.

The JV team at LHS will inherit the balls previously used by the varsity team, marking a vast improvement over the Puma balls they previously used. Both the varsity and JV teams will use the new balls for game balls.

Harmony Info for Week of 10/30/06

There are a few updates for the Harmony for this week. First, practice will be Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:00 at the High School and Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30, place TBD.

Second, the cost for the just completed tournament is $22.50. Please make your checks payable to Vince.

Finally, our final game will be Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 at Sheehan Park.

Correction to Harmony Tournament Game Time

Correction: The Harmony's tournament game on Sunday is at 11:30, NOT at 2: 10 as I indicated elsewhere. Sorry for the confusion!

Final Harmony League Game Rescheduled

The Harmony was scheduled to play its last league game this Sunday at 3:30 at Sheehan Park. Well, the Baraboo coach finally came through for the team and got his players to reschedule!

The Harmony will be playing its three tournament games this weekend, but NOT the league game. Instead, the team will play the Baraboo Strikers on Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 pm at Sheehan Park.

Busy Weekend for Zia Harmony (Including the Tournament)

The Harmony will play ICA Panthers at 10:25 on Saturday on Field 10 and FCX/FC Barrington G15 at 2:00 on field 9, both at Reddan Park in Verona. On Sunday, the Harmony will play Quad City Strikers at 2:10 on Field 9. You can find the schedule here. General information on the tournament is here.

Also, don't forget the Badger game tomorrow night at 7:00 at the McClimon Complex on Campus with dinner at Pizza Hut at 5:30 (on University Ave, across from Hilldale Mall).

LHS Banquet Rescheduled

I'm sorry that we had to do it, but my illness did not agree with our original schedule. I will keep you all posted with details as we get the banquet rescheduled. Thank you all for your understanding!
